The Flatcoated Retriever Club of Scotland

”All Clubs Working Test”

The inaugural Working Test between The Flatcoated Retriever Society, The Northern England Flatcoated Retriever Association (NEFRA) and The Flatcoated Retriever Club of Scotland (FRCS) took place on Saturday 31st May 2003 at a venue near Farnfields in Nottinghamshire.

The day turned out to be an absolute cracker with excellent weather (although the dogs kept needing to have a swim in the river to cool off) and great company. Team members from all three clubs had a great time running their dogs in the various tests and having a laugh and joke with each other. The tests consisted of:

·        Simulated pick up

·        Double retrieve

·        Blind retrieve

·        Water retrieve

·        Walked up retrieve

Congratulations go to The Flatcoated Retriever Society as they won the day although it was by the extreme thinnest margins of half a point from NEFRA. It was the Scottish Clubs first ever competitive working test and it showed with their third place and at least 30 points adrift from second place. However watch out next year, as there will be a lot of training done to ensure we are a lot more competitive!
